All looking good for the John Holmes trial
The John Holmes Trial on Sunday October 26 is the final trial of 2025 by the Westmorland Club and will be held on the club’s own land at Lindale.
John Holmes of whom the trial is named in his memory, was a quiet distinguished engineer and enthusiast of the sport who manufactured some incredible special machines in the twinshock style, so whilst this trial is open to riders on all types of trials bike, both modern and twinshock/pre 65, the trial is aimed specifically at twinshock machines with sections designed accordingly.
So what we ask is that if you have a twinshock bike, then use that in preference to any other machine you may have, but if you don’t have a twinshock, then ride your modern machine with our blessings.
Start time will be at 10.30 on the day with entries taken at the start and if the day turns out to be similar to how it was one year earlier, you’ll get a good day of sport at a great venue. The format will be over 3 or maybe four laps of up to 12 sections and observers will be made very welcome.
The lead picture is of Carl Winstanley on his Fantic, an ideal machine for the John Holmes trial.
