As a prelude to their Greeves Classic Scramble this coming weekend, (April 23/24), the Westmorland Club hosted a ride out for basically oldies on old bikes (though some only had modern machines) on the Thursday prior to the scramble, leaving Heaves at Levens for a roundabout ride to Coniston and back, using the narrow lanes that feature so heavily in South Lakeland.

With more than 35 machines and riders out, there were several groups which all congregated at Walna Scar car park for this group picture before taking in a sandwich and fries lunch at the Black Bull in Coniston, courtesy of the club’s long standing sponsor, Ian Bradley, owner of the Coniston Brewery.

The weather proved to be the highlight of the day after the fantastic views over Coniston, Tarn Hows and Windermere, with another great Westmorland social run setting the scene for the scramble over two days, contested by over 170 riders on more than 230 different machines.
