Gaskell claims S3 Over 40s championship
With the final S3 Championship series round having been held last weekend by the Hillsborough Club, the Jack Wood Trial, Richard Gaskell was able to finally claim the S3 Parts Championship for riders Over 40. He secured yet another class win in the Jack Wood, his third of the series to add to his two second places, a third and a sixth, to finish the series on 119 points, whilst the runner up, Phil Wiffen was on 102 points having won just the Easter Monday Lomax Trial in which Gaskell finished second.
Right from the start, Gaskell has led the way by winning the Lonsdale Trial by the Westmorland Club which was the opening round of the series and from that point was never headed, his only no score being the Colmore which he never rode.
As a former Northern Centre Champion, the Keswick rider was ideally placed to contest the series, his style being ideal to this no-stop championship and his success is another “feather-in-the-cap” for Northern Centre riders.
Dan Thorpe was the Expert class winner and Craig Talbot the Clubman class winner.
