Glenridding gathering
RESULTS NOW ADDED
Just 60 riders managed to secure an entry into Cumberland County’s Mike Hodgson classic trial at Glenridding over the second weekend of September, with many more on a waiting list, so popular is this trial held deep in the heart p.of the English Lake District.
Saturday always starts at 1pm in order to provide some extra weekend time for those travelling any distance to the trial, and the offering on day one of the event was four laps of ten sections. Heavy rain in the preceding days had forced the club to move some sections out of the now fast flowing river, which also prevented the tradition crossing of the river to reach expected sections on the north side of the valley. Heavy showers on the day also made the between section going harder than it has been in the past. There were two routes through most sections, an easier version and a slightly more difficult version with none really troublesome. Richard Allen went clean on day one but Andrew Scott was unlucky to collect an unexpected five to make his total six.

Riders either camped overnight or took up accommodation in the village with visits to the pub, ready for day two’s 10am start. The weather was more settled but the sections, four laps again but this time over 12 different sections was more difficult with some of the venues bigger gullies brought into use.
Fortunately, most managed to get away before the later afternoon rain came which hit the north west in most areas.
To date we haven’t found any results and thanks to Phil Haygarth for supplying this information. His video of the trial is now available on You Tube on Phil’s channel, 2wheels off-road. Results have now been added onto the Results page, linked from the Home page.
