Stribers Saturday Special
Running a trial on a Saturday afternoon is not unknown by a Centre club, but is not something that is a regular occurance, so when the Barrow Club decided to run their postponed multiclass trial from 6 days earlier on Saturday afternoon, July 13, there was some doubt as to whether there would be much of an entry, particularly as other, televised sports were on offer.
However, 28 riders turned up for this trial at Stribers where there were 10 sections laid out to be ridden four times. Out of centre visitor Aran Drachenberg made mincemeat of the sections, losing just 2 marks on the muddy fifth section for his only penalties of the day, with three riders, Connor Anderson, Mike Instance and Lewis Gaskell sharing the second place, all on 4 marks lost, Anderson being the best A class rider in this round of the Northern Centre Youth Championship and Gaskell second with Mike Instance topping the Over 40 class.
To encourage younger riders and those who prefer an easier trial, the Black course was headed by Craig Asbridge on 9 lost with Tom Joel best of the two Youth C riders and Jacob Smith the best of the three Youth D riders who were conducted around by their parents.
