Tom takes the Ripon scalps
Tom Swindlehurst had what is arguably his best result as a trials rider when he won the Ripon Club’s Kirkby Christmas Trial on December 13.
Losing just 11 marks, 8 on the first lap and 3 on the second lap of 18 sections, he took the scalps of some very classy riders including former World Championship campaigner Michael Brown, Trial 3 runner up Harrison Skelton, as well as Duncan McColl, a regular rider in the Trial 2 championship as well as former Scott Trial winner Ian Austermuhle and ex Trial des Nations Team GB rider Dan Clark.
With no events held in the Northern Centre that day due to a horrendous weather forecast, several riders ventured eastwards to take part in the now exceedingly popular Ripon trial which attracted over 180 entries on a fine winter’s day at Kirkby Malzead.
