Two weekends of action for you
With the cancellation of yesterday’s scheduled Barrow trial due to the unavailability of the planned venue in Graythwaite Forest, the next trial from the Northern Centre dates list is the Bootle Club’s multi-class trial at Fell Green, that’s on Sunday March 15.
All the usual comments apply, 10.30 start, entries on the day, all adult classes catered for as well as youth A,B and C.
Barrow then spring into action the following Sunday, March 22 with the first round of the National Sorra Classic Championship which is open for all variations of classic bikes from pre 65 machines through to air-cooled monoshocks. The venue is the Old Railway Line, Torver and Peter Blowers, who has been a regular rider in this series for several years, is setting out the trial and has been planning the event for several weeks. So if you have a suitable machine and there’s definitely a suitable route for you, get entered as the entries will be closed on Wednesday, March 18.
Just to be clear, the classes available are: Twinshock; Air-cooled Monoshock, Britshock, Specials over one of three routes, Expert, Intermediate and Clubman. So check out what you want to ride and in what class and get entered. Entries are through the ACU Sport 80 system which will check your licence and club membership at the time of entering.
The question has been put: “why is the ACU so fussy about licences and memberships? Well, with regard to licences, if you are not already aware, the 2026 licence which now costs £35 has an element of personal accident insurance combined within the licence price – effectively you are paying £12 per year for personal accident coverage, and it is essential that every rider has a licence, should the worst happen and the rider suffers a serious accident.
