All Fun at Bootle

Entries into the Bootle club’s trials have been disappointingly low for much of the past year, but for their “Fun” trial on December 21 some 52 riders arrived and signed on, a great improvement over recent trials and as such the club were delighted with the turn out to this far western venue.

Only three riders took on the hard course, Wilf Shuttleworth, Steve Dixon and Owen Gilchrist with Wilf the winner by 12 marks over Dixon.None of the three managed to reach the exit of section 4 which was an impossibly steep climb out of the stream which had a fast flow to it following the recent weeks of rain.

Jack Dixon won the Green course, still riding his dad’s TY250 Yamaha as he awaits the arrival of his new Scorpa whilst the best of the club class riders was Tony Barrow from visitor Pete Ruscoe, currently working in the north, well away from his Midlands home base. Martin Jackson was debuting his new 300 Gas Gas and lost the same number of marks as Ruscoe but lost out on the greater number of cleans tie-breaker.

Young Elliott Barrow joined his dad at the top of a class with the Beginner’s course success by four marks from Ryan Tippett.
