Despite the strong winds the West Cumbria Motocross Club managed to hold its 3rd and 4th rounds of the 2022 season at the pristinely prepped Dean Moor circuit just up from Workington.

As always the Auto pilots were first to hit the track and consistency was key as Oliver Lee put in three solid rides to take the overall by just a point without winning a moto as his 3-2-2 results gave him the top spot from Byron Wheldon who took two wins split by a second race eighth to give him runner up. Third overall went to Paddy Lee.

In the Junior 65 class it was series leader Brooklyn Tinkler who took home the first place trophy with two wins and a second spot ahead of main championship rival and last race winner Vinnie Anderson. Jenson Branney rounded out the top 3 in third.

Finley Pickering put on a solid display of talent in the Small Wheel 85 class as he managed to beat all the Big Wheel riders also, winning outright claiming three moto wins from championship leader Connor Thompson. Hayden Steel took home third overall.

In the Big Wheel 85 category Joe Dakin extended his points gap at the top by taking home another maximum points haul from Zachary Pearson who claimed three runner up spots and Finley Easton took a brace of third place finishes for third overall.

Next up were the Youth Open pilots and Robbie Park fresh on his new 250  KTM took the new machine to a perfect start claiming three wins and maximum points. Josh Williams finished runner up on the day taking advantage of Liam Johnstons race three issues.

It was Liam Kelly who took the overall victory in the Adult C Under 30 class with two wins and a second closely followed by last race winner Ethan Brierley. James Marwood rounded out the podium in third.

Rich Sewell dominated the Adult C Over 30 category with maximum points after taking home three race victories. James Whitelaw couldn’t do anything about the Honda man and had to settle for second this time around while Shaun Williamson finished the day third overall.

It was Joe Khamouli who dominated the Adult B class with 3 easy wins and yet another overall victory from Yamaha pilot Todd Ingram who took home a hat trick of runner up spots. Aiden Murphy took the third position.

Last up were the Adult A class with James Dent (lead picture) and Frazer Clark continuing their fight for the championship sharing the wins and runner ups between them. Dent took the honours with Clark having to settle for second while Frazer Hansen picked himself up from a first turn fall in moto 2 to take third overall.

Sunday was greeted with slightly weaker winds and the odd shower keeping the riders on their toes all day.

Once again first up were the Auto riders and Byron Wheldon made up for just missing out on the victory on day one to claim a clean sweeping of wins on Sunday and take home the first place trophy ahead of Saturday victor Oliver Lee who took three runner up spots this time around. Paddy Lees finished third.

In the Junior 65 class series leader Brooklyn Tinkler dominated the day taking maximum points and extending his lead but he was pushed all the way by the number 60 machine of Vinnie Anderson who once again had to settle for the runner up on the day while Tom Bowman finished the day third overall.

Finley Pickering once again showed he was the class act of the Small Wheel 85 category as he took three wins from three starts and proved Saturday’s performance was no fluke. Connor Thompson could do nothing about the leader and so had to take home runner up on the day just ahead of Franky Anderson who claimed third.

Another top BYN rider in the form of Jamie Keith showed everyone in the Big Wheel 85 class the way around the hard packed Cumbrian circuit as he took home a maximum points haul aboard his GasGas machine. Zachary Pearson couldn’t do anything about the flying Keith but managed to take a few points out of his rivals points lead as Joe Dakin ended up just behind in third position on the day.

Robbie Park continued his dominating run aboard his new machine and claimed maximum points in the Youth Open class making it 6 from 6 wins on the weekend. Thomas Carruthers had his best ride of the season taking second spot overall after some hectic battles with third placed Josh Williams.

In the Adult C Under 30 category Liam Kelly nailed down 3 wins even coming through the pack from a bad start in one moto to take a full bag of points ahead of young Scot Kady Moore who pushed him all the way. James Marwood rounded out the top 3 in third.

Rich Sewell put on an impressive display taking home two wins and a second for another overall win in the Adult C Over 30 group just pipping rival and first race winner James Whitelaw by 3 points as Dean Sewell took home third overall.

In the Adult B class Joe Khamouli looked to have the overall sewn up but a last race spill cost him and dropped him to third opening the door for Todd Ingram to claim his first Adult B race and overall victory just ahead of Aiden Murphy who took second with Khamouli finishing third.

Frazer Clark made the most of Graham Rileys first race issues and went on to claim the overall in the Adult A class ahead of Frazer Hansen who showed good speed to claim the runner up spot from Arran Murphy who took third on a tie break with Max Griffin.
