Batty best at Far Waterslack
Entry numbers have been greatly reduced in recent weeks, but that was not the case for the Sedbergh Club’s multi-class event at Far Waterslack Farm on July 16 when more than 50 riders arrived on a wet Sunday morning for the four laps of ten sections that had been laid out at this compact venue next to the railway line from Carnforth to Arnside.
Carl Batty scored his second win in succession topping the Pre 65 class with Mark Quinn runner up just a single mark in front of Andrew Payne, obviously well recovered from his exertions in the SSDT a couple of months earlier. It was the third section of the trial that took the most marks with Quinn, Erik Buckley , Martin Jackson and Lewis Johnson (another recovering from Scotland) who was also riding his recently acquired Triumph Twin for the first time, all completing the section for four marks lost, the best efforts, where double figures predominated.
Over the Easy course at the trial it was Tony Dillon best from Carl Winstanley, both twinshock mounted whilst in the well supported youth category the lowest score of 32 was by Toby Jackson with nine of the ten youths all completing the course, showing that determination always pays off.
