Ben is the latest Myers master
A fine drizzle for much of the morning onto bone dry long grass and through the woodland summer cover made many of the 15 sections in the Barrow Club’s Zeke Myers trial extremely slippery – particularly during the first two of the three lap trial. This resulted in some high scores in the poorly supported hard course, though the sections were about right over the green and clubman course in this round of the Northern Centre Championship.
However, just as it had been the previous week when the Westmorland Club ran the Grant Trial, entries for the day were low, with only 34 taking part which was just two mare than had entered a week earlier.

With most of the Centre’s “top” riders away at a S3 Championship round, it was down to Ben Cornthwaite (lead picture) to shine as he won the hard course with the large loss of 61 marks, some 20 fewer than runner up Mike Instance. The first and 13th sections of the trial proved to be the most difficult with only the winner managing three cleans on section 13 and nobody managing a clean at all on the opening section of the trial.
Karl Ratcliffe – a newcomer to the Over 60 class
David Heys won the green course by a single mark from Matt Hopkinson whilst on the clubman course it was the ever-reliable Mark Barrow who mastered the course losing 18 marks with Anthony Hayhurst second on 23 and Jackson Edwards just a further mark adrift for third place.
