Biting wind features in the Lakes
Winter conditions began to make its presence felt when the Lakes GTRC ran their trial at High Borrowbridge, just off the A6 north road below Shap with a biting wind whistling down the valley on what was otherwise a mild September day.
A small entry of just 25 riders was disappointing to a club that regularly attracts twice that number to a mixed class club trial over which Anthony Hayhurst won the Hard course, being the only rider entered for that class!!
Aden Jackson won the Clubman course and the Over 40 category from Andrew Hackett by a single mark while brother Jeremy Hackett took fifth behind Richard Taylor and Erik Buckley.
Featuring rocks in grass and steep grassy banksides above Crookdale Beck, sections also featured in the river which proved slippery despite being washed clean by the passing of much water this summer. Over 60 veteran Ephy Wilson won the easy class of 8 riders with three marks in hand over Lakes club member Gareth Edmondson who spent much of his pre-trial time fettling a carburettor for son William.
Craig Asbridge took fourth, therefore not on the podium had there been one, despite having won a whole armful of awards in the recent Beamish Trial on a 3hp 122cc Norman.
