Here’s the December offerings

Well, as I write, December is almost upon us so here’s the stuff that is on offer for the final month of the year.

Starting on the first day of the month, Bassenthwaite have the Stanley Tallontire Trial at Mosedale, that’s the minor road that links the village of Caldbeck with the main road between Penrith and Keswick. It’s a great, so sensible, trial over some wild and woolly terrain, let’s hope the weather is kind enough for the trial to go ahead as in the past it has been hit with some atrocious weather. Unfortunately rain is forecast, but at least it shouldn’t be snow or ice which is frequently the problem, so here’s hoping it goes ahead.

Then on the following Sunday, 8th, Cumberland County have a club trial at Greenhead CA7 8HD and remember this is an enter in advance through the ACU Sport 80 system with entries closing on Wednesday 4th.

Two more trials now, Bootle SC have a trial at Fell Green on December 15 followed by pie and peas at the Brown Cow which is a couple of miles up the main coast road and which last year was a good social afternoon, so there’s no reason why it won’t be again this year.

Boxing Day trials nearly always bring out a decent crop of riders and again it’s the Barrow Club who will be running their trial that day at the Old Railway Line ,Torver. Both Bootle and Barrow are enter on the day with 10.30 starts and Barrow usually include a Black route for the old timers and beginners.

But that’s not all, quite a collection of Northern guys will be at the Villa Hotel, Levens on Monday night, December 8th for the Regional clerk of the course seminar, such a licence being a requirement by those who set out trials.

And finally, entries will be available from December 1 for the Westmorland Club’s Lonsdale trial which is the opening round of the S3 Parts National Trials Championship. Don’t let that title put anyone off as the trial will be as sensible as it has always been in the recent past. Entries, because it is an ACU round, will be on-line via the Sport 80 site.
