Mintex tests T and O Youth riders
REPORT: PAUL ANDERSON
On Sunday 8th September, youth riders from the Northern Centre took on the Mintex time and observation trial, in misty and wet conditions the riders negotiated 60 sections set in the grouse moors above Reeth. The same ground used for the famous Scott trial which runs in the same format in a months time.
A challenging 2 laps of 30 sections spread out over approximately a 20 mile lap was the aim for the 66 participants.
Connor Anderson was the first of the local contingent to cross the finish line in a credible 19th place, hampered by a fall in a river section which cost time to repair and a puncture between the very last section and the finish line.
Lewis Gaskell had a steady, fairly event free ride to bring his Scorpa home in a creditable 34th place.
Ryan Proctor had a few mishaps along the route, managed to dig deep and get as far as the final fuel stop before running out of time.
Fletcher Geldert on his first attempt had a number of issues and managed to complete one lap of the arduous course.
