Support Dave’s trial
For much of his life Dave Parkinson was very much a stalwart of the Westmorland Club.
Whether it be the club’s trial, scrambles or the Barbon Hill Climb, Dave was there to take on whatever chore was needed and in particular, through his later years he was the club member who spoke to the landowners when permission was required to run on their land.
So it was a significant loss when he died recently and in recognition of his contribution to the club over very many years, there is to be the Dave Parkinson Charity Trial in his name which will be held on Saturday, July 11 at the Helsington scramble course, just off the Kendal by-pass where there will be the classic scramble the following day.
It was decided to run the trial over the scramble weekend as Dave was heavily in involved in both during his years with the club so both trials and scramble riders can honour his contribution to the club by taking part or just by being at the trial.
It will be an easy event and planned to be suitable for any bike, whether it be a trials machine, trail bike or even a scramble bike. Just pay the entry on the day and ride what you’ve brung. No license needed as this trial is on an AMCA permit along with the scramble and the trials class doesn’t need a licence which is part of the entry fee at every event.
Start time will be 2pm for 4 laps of the course, probably 10 sections which is the norm for such easy club events and it is entry on the day.
