Tight at the top at Lindale

Tight at the top at Lindale

Finally, Westmorland MC attracted a decent entry to the third round of their Wednesday evening series held at Lindale, where the four laps of ten sections were tightly packed into a restricted area of the venue to ensure that the promised wet weather for later on and of course darkness didn’t affect the progression of the trial and the clearing up afterwards. Whilst darkness wasn’t a problem, the torrential 20 minutes of rain certainly caught a few of the last riders completing their laps.

Top spot on the Clubman course with four marks lost was taken by Robert Taylor on the furthest clean tie-breaker when the loss of marks between Taylor and David Fallows couldn’t separate them, then Karl Ratcliffe and Peter Ellis for the next positions went to Ratcliffe on one extra clean with the remainder of the 29 strong Clubman entry found their positions with marks lost varying from the winner’s four to the final loss by a newcomer on 130. Well done to the guy who finished last because determination to succeed in trials is the only way to improve and he was there doing it whilst others were not.

The Easy Clubman course win went to Andrew Kenyon on one, still recovering from a icy slip off from his road bike back in November with regular contender for the class win Nigel Furness on nine.

For the first time, there were seven Youth C and D riders  who were marshalled and monitored by ace trials and enduro rider Paul Bolton who is also the voice  behind Red Bull Motorsports coverage of extreme enduros. Thanks from the club for his efforts and the other parents for taking on this task.
