Trial GB all set to go

Entries for the third round of the Talon/Wulfsport/ACU Trial GB series closed on Sunday evening and finished at a healthy 54 riders for the trial which the Bootle Club are running at Po House this Easter Sunday, April 9. The venue postcode is LA18 5LU.

The Trial GB series is the premier selection of events for the five main British Championship classes, Trial GB with 7 entries, Trial 2 with 13 taking part, Trial 125 which has 3 entries, Trial Electric with a disappointing number of just two but with the Trial Expert class fielding 29 competitors.

Even though the GB class has only 7 entries, this is actually the largest number for some while, with current British Champion Toby Martyn leading the charge to try and retain the title he won last year. Jack Peace currently leads the series as Martyn has missed a round due to indoor trial contracts, but should now be able to complete the series.

Anthony Brockbank and Joel Gowan have been out planning the 12 sections which will be ridden 3 times in a 5hr 20min schedule over the testing terrain at Po House which has not previously been used for a trial of this status. Riders will know only too well how slippery the sections in the bottom wood become when it’s wet, and they should prove very interesting.

There is plenty of parking available and admission to the trial is FREE!! In recent years there has been a small charge to watch these events, but Bootle have declined to make the charge, believing the sport, traditionally a free to watch spectacle, should continue when a club can afford to do so. Po House is clearly marked about a mile from Millom on the A 595, just before most enthusiasts would normally make a right turn to head up to Fell Green.

The day following the Trial GB round, (Easter Monday) Westmorland MC have a clubman event at their Fir Bank venue, flagged from junction 37 of the M6 over a gentle course of 10 sections ridden four times. There will be a normal clubman route and an easier clubman route with entries taken at the start
