What’s on for January
As we are about to enter 2025, here’s a quickkie regarding the events for January.
As always, Cumberland County open the year with their New Year’s Day trial on Wednesday which will be at Nord Vue, Armathwaite and flagged from the A6 between Penrith and Carlisle. This is an enter in advance trial with entries closing via Sport 80 on December 31.
Then on January 5 the Bassenthwaite Club have the next round of the Northern Centre Trials Championship at Baggra Yeat near Caldbeck, flagged off the B 5299 with the nearest postcode being CA7 1HN. A couple of things to note about this trial, all parking must be ENTIRELY off road. No tyres on the tarmac at the directions of the Lake District National Parks Authority who are allowing parking where the trial is based. Entries on the day and you must have renewed your ACU licence before the trial. This trial has a hard, Green and Clubman course for all adults and Youth A/B over a cross country 7.5 mile lap. Observers with bikes are needed if you can help. Start 10.30am.
January 12 comes next with Lakes GTRC having their first multi class trial at Holmscales, flagged from the Crooklands to Kendal road, which caters for all abilities and a 10.30 start. Next comes another Northern Centre round with the Bootle Club’s Fell Green Trial on January 19, at Fell Green as usual with all classes (except C and D) catered for, again entries at the start at 10.30am.
Then to round off the month, Westmorland MC have the Lonsdale Trial on January 26 which is the first round of the national S3 Parts Trials Championship at Firbank. This is a trial in which you must enter in advance through the Sport 80 system and it is important to note that whilst this is a championship round, it will remain at the same level of severity as it has in the past when just a normal centre round. Start will be at 9.30am at Firbank, signed from junction 37 of the M6. Already the club have over 125 entries but there’s room for more, especially from local riders.
