Zeke Myers opens last few champ rounds

The last three rounds of the Northern Centre Trials Championship due over the next few weeks opened with the Barrow DMC Zeke Myers trial at Torver overlooking Coniston water, a fantastic stretch of land thanks to the farmer and the Lakes District National Park.

With a much improved entry of 49 when compared to recent events, it was a ultra close finish on the hard course with the two best riders, Steve Dixon and Tom Hick finishing on the same number of marks, 28, with Dixon getting the nod with more cleans. Defending champion and recent Manx Two Day winner Tom Swindlehurst was third some three marks adrift.

Peter Mawson and Jack Dixon

The hard route through section 10 proved to be the most difficult section of the day with only Hick, Swindlehurst and James Postlethwaite managing the three laps of the section with singe figure scores.

There was a surprisingly small number of riders who elected to ride the 50/50 Green route, just five, with Jack Dixon proving the best quite easily from Peter Mawson whose three failures on section 14 baffled him as to why he couldn’t ascend the final step. That same sections, 14, a twsisting path up the hillside, became more slippery as the day wore on and though there were numerous cleans, no Clubman class rider managed to record a zero on all three laps, the best efforts being a dab by Liam Swidenbank, twos by John Gornall on his recently built Francis Barnett and by Connor Anderson who was runner up to the class winner Ben Hanson, our featured image.
