Clean up at Clawthorpe plus championship positions
Backed by Kendal’s major bike dealership, Triple D Motosport, round two of the Lakes GTRC D3 trials championship series was held at Clawthorpe on April 12, attracting a very healthy 57 strong entry to the hill top venue where limestone outcrop provides the bulk of the sections.
Three riders went clean throughout the day, Darren Brice on zero won the Hard Course route from Joel Hazlett on 11 and Matt Edmondson on 23 whilst over the main Clubman route both Bradley Butterworth and Jonny Stott failed to lose any marks over the four lap ten section course. with Erik Buckley and James Scowcroft both on one dab, Buckley getting the decision on the furthest clean tie decider.
His dad Neil preferred to ride the easy clubman course and lost five marks to win that category from Aron Alty on 12 and Colin Benson on 15.
Blessed with fine weather at a venue that overlooks Morecambe Bay, on some days it’s no place to be but on Sunday it was just fine though still chilly in the wind. Lakes GTRC have the knack of putting on the type of event riders want and Sunday’s trial was no exception, hence the good entry of riders to this occasionally used venue.
