Derrick and Eric, a rhyming duo to hold court at Christmas
The Westmorland Motor Club will be back with a bang this Christmas as they host another of their popular gatherings at the Crooklands Hotel, Milnthorpe near Kendal, just a mile from the M6 Junction 36 on Friday December 29th. The pandemic put a stop to these very popular gatherings but now they are back with a Christmas Cracker.
Peter Remington has managed to persuade Eric Boocock and Derrick Edmondson to join us for another cracker of a day listening to tales of old, with Mike Rapley coaxing a few answers from the two legends of two-wheeled sport.
Eric of course will be forever known for his exploits over the years in Speedway and was British Champion in 1974. Let’s not forget he also managed the Belle Vue Aces, and helped Peter Collins to win the World Title, and was also the England manager, as well as looking after the Hull and Sheffield Tigers. He now takes things a little more easily and can be seen out with the Classic Trials boys.
Derrick is a legend of the Enduro World, and has seven British Championships to his name, as well as competing in the Dakar, and also joins us on our road runs. He’s been a factory Honda mechanic for two multiple World and British Trials Champions, he’s been a bike dealer and he manages a specialised race team, so Derrick, and indeed Eric have many tales to tell which Mike will be trying to wheedle out of them.
Doors open at 10am on the Friday, with the talks starting at 11am. There will be food included at the interval.
Tickets are priced at £10 per person, and could we ask you to book in with Geoff Shuttleworth so that we have an idea of numbers as we can only hold about 80 guests.
Pre-payment would be the preferred option, and can be paid by bank transfer, PayPal friends and family, cash or cheque.
We usually hold a raffle and would be very grateful for any kind donations of prizes.
