Low scores at Nord Vue

Nord Vue, once the British home to the World Championship series, remains a great trial venue for events of all levels and Cumberland County held the third round of the Frank Smith series on the last Sunday of April with a decent entry of 56 riders to compete over the predominately sandstone sections in this old quarry.

Neil Wilson won the Adult Clubman route with the loss of just 3 marks with Mark Barrow and Trevor Fawkes each a single mark adrift with the decision going to Barrow on most cleans. Scores were generally low with the first 12 riders all on single figures whilst  six of the first finishers over the Adult Easy Route also stayed in single figures which was won by Stuart Armstrong with a clean sheet followed by Ossy Byers on one and Craig Asbridge aboard his Chinese Tenaci-Wong on 4.

Whilst the trial would initially appear to be easy many of the riders notched up some double figure scores including some riders who would normally ride the more difficult route in Centre Championship trials, so as is so often the case, what initially appears easy is in fact designed to catch out the riders as the initially grippy sandstone rocks became covered in a layer of mud.
