Cameron starts his title charge

Eleven year old Cameron Batty (pictured earlier this year) who has already had some adult scalps when he has ridden major trials in the Northern Centre began his challenge for the National C class youth championship at Hookwoods over the last weekend of April with a pair of second places each day in the ACU/Oset Bikes Youth Championship organised by the Surrey Schoolboys Trials Club.

Young Cameron finished the first day at the daunting Hookwoods venue just four marks off the class win, which was a fine effort especially as he lost a five on the very last section of the trial, a section that had previously only cost him a single mark. The winner was Mason Tidd from the Milton Buzzard club who lost 70 marks with Batty on 74

On day two, it was again a runner up spot, but this time eight marks off the win over an easier course losing 42 to the winner’s 34 who was another Milton Buzzard youngster, Samual Le Fevre.

With five rounds remaining from mid May until late September, the Bowston youngster has enjoyed a fine start to what could well prove a successful year.
