A slippery evening at Lamb Howe

A slippery evening at Lamb Howe

Two sections, the fourth through some mud and then over tree roots and section ten, a drop down a bank to a fairly tight turn then climb back up over a polished slab and some slippery roots were the two testing sections in the first Wednesday evening trial held by the Westmorland Club this year.

Four laps of ten sections at Lamb Howe attracted a disappointing entry of just 23 riders to a venue that saw nearly double that total a year earlier. Yet almost to a man, riders were raving about how good the trial was and how the venue lends itself to this style of evening trial, so why it was not well supported is obviously due to any number of valid reasons.

Overall winner was Gary Kitching from Mike Instance who was a single mark behind, and undoubtedly it was his score on the final section that was his downfall, as it was for many riders. Young Toby Knowles looked likely to be the best on section ten until he fived it on the final lap, leaving Erik Buckley and Scott Cunningham to record the best score there.

Craig Asbridge on his Tenaci-Wong was the best of the two finishers on the Easy Clubman course from Mark Simpson.
