2025 – Scotland Post 7

Two of Westmorland’s sponsored riders in the Scottish Six Days Trial are riding together, with the third member of the team nearly an hour and a half different in the trial running order, so to get all three together for an update is just about impossible.

However, having spoken to Will Brockbank on Tuesday, he was having a really good trial and on Tuesday night when the results were available, he was in the top 50, a great position to be in though he has yet to have his early day which will be on Friday, which is the longest day mileage wise in the trial. Will told me that he had not ridden particularly well early on Monday but soon got into the rhythms and was very pleased with his excellent ride of the very tough Cameron Hill section which he cleaned with ease.

Tom Swindlehurst and Joe Hiley are riding together and Joe, in his second Scottish felt that he was very rusty on Monday and only on Tuesday did he feel that he had readjusted to the skills needed in the Scottish.

Tom, by his own admission had a poor first day but was enjoying the trial and knew from past experience that he could improve significantly and was certainly in a happy frame of mind when we spoke with him on Wednesday morning at Lower Mamore.

All three riders agreed that the fell terrain is very tiring this year as the ground is so dry especially after the new stretch on Tuesday above Loch Arkaig.

The big news from Wednesday morning was the retirement of last year’s winner Jack Price whose Scorpa succumbed to gear selector problems. Price and Dec Bullock tried their best to keep the bike going through Tuesday and did indeed get rider and machine to the end, but out of time which meant exclusion. And he stayed clean all day!

so here, at 9.15 pm on Wednesday evening, Raga remains the trial leader with a clean sheet, Harry Hemingway is second on one mar, Jack Peace is third on 3 and 19 year old Harry Turner is in fourth on 4 marks lost.
