2025 – Scotland post 6

Will Brockbank, one of the three riders assisted by the Westmorland club had a great second day of this year’s Scottish Six Days Trial, moving up to 49th place in the overall reckoning after two days of action whilst his team mates in the prestigious club team contest, Tom Swindlehurst and Joe Hiley held onto 64th and 96 th places respectively, still with great chances to move up the list.

Harry Hemingway and Adam Raga once again went clean as the trial moved slightly further north in to the Loch Arkaig area, before finishing at the two groups known as Upper and Lower Uachan before returning to base in Fort William to prepare scruffy machines for a third day of action on Wednesday which takes the trial back to the Kinlochleven area before they head off across Rannoch Moor to finish day three at Leanachan which is likely to be the prime spectator group close to theAonach chair lift/ski resort.

Three Jacks, Peace, Dance and Price hold third through to fifth, all on three marks lost whilst behind them are four riders on four marks, Billy Green, Dan Peace, Harry Turner and past winner James Dabill, and even though the scores remain low, anything can happen in the Scottish and with four days to come, and who knows how tough some of the sections may be, the results could well see significant changes.

As a Bankside spectator, the very dry conditions that have prevailed in the north of England/ Scotland have made the sections appear easier than they may have been in the past. Of course, it’s rare to see much more than two or possibly three groups per day as so many of the groups are outside sensible walking distance and riding an off- road bike to see others is strictly frowned upon.

However, having spoken to riders with some experience of the trial, they are saying that the dry terrain is very hard on the arms and hands with the continual hammering they get across the moors. Certainly today’s long crossing which totalled about 12 miles without any sections, all off-road showed up some weary riders as they returned to the sections adjacent to Loch Arkaig which were thankfully, for riders no more difficult than a decent section in a Centre trial, but without the clubman route.

I you fancy seeing what was a 30 minute live broadcast by Phil Haygarth and yours truly tonight, go to 2-wheels off-road channel on You Tube to hear the very latest from Tuesday night where it is constantly available.
