Braithwaite best on his Future

Braithwaite best on his Future

David Braithwaite is not one of those riders that rides every trial possible, he picks and chooses, but when he does take part, he is always a force to be reckoned with. And that was again the case at the Cumberland County MCC’s J.D.Pattinson multiclass trial at Brownrigg on August 20.

Riding his 300 Future, a Italian world team bike from a few years ago, effectively a special 300 Montesa, he dropped six marks over the bracken covered fellside course that has been part of the Cumberland County MCC trials scene for many years, to finish just a single mark ahead ahead of Ross McCulloch with CCMCC teamster Graham Teasdale in a fine third place, another mark further down and he shared that 8 mark loss with Peter Clibburn who took fourth due to Teasdale’s greater number of cleans.

These days an entry of 40 riders can be seen to be healthy, but what is of greater note is that more and more riders are tackling the easier course in these trials. Of the 40 starters, 15 rode the easier course with David Maxwell proving to be the best on five lost with Craig Asbridge and Paul Westgarth both on six, Asbridge and his Tenaci-Wong getting the more cleans tie-decider verdict.
