Returning to a previously used venue at Gatebeck resulted in a turnout of 31 riders for the final round of the Westmorland Club’s evening series of trials.

Previous trials on Wednesday evenings, over predominately dry rock outcrop resulted in low scores, but the flat rocky stream at Gatebeck proved altogether different as it was incredibly slippery and the scores were greater than anticipated. However, all 31 starters finished the trial and judging by the comments the venue was well received and enjoyed by all on a fine night.

Burt Crayston won the standard clubman course on the loss of 16 marks which was seven ahead of BSA Bantam mounted Andrew Scott who regularly supports just about every trial going in the north west. His  beautifully immaculate machine featuring an Alan Whitton frame is a joy to behold as is Mark Hewitt’s Bantam and also Ephy Wilson’s recently completed Andrew Bingley assembled James.

Peter Blowers is usually in the reckoning in these trials and he gained third place as he rushed round at the front of the entry before heading off to his night shift at the Barrow shipyard.

Robert Copland  (main picture) topped the easy clubman course from Ryan Tippett who is improving rapidly under the arm of the Blowers advice whilst Ephy Wilson had one of his best rides for third. The younger riders found the slippery conditions very testing but all credit to them as they showed a never give up attitude on the slippery rocks.

Full results linked from the Home page and soon Eric Kitchen pictures over the weekend as he has other commitments with his cameras prior to sorting out his Gatebeck snaps.
