Chilly Greenhead ends Cumberland’s year

A bitterly cold December day didn’t stop the Cumberland County MCC from running their final trial of the year at Greenhead near Caldbeck, a place chilly even on the warmest of sunny days, so on a cold December morning, the club did well for the trial to go ahead and attract a small but determined entry.

Over the main Clubman route Trevor Fawkes (main image from a previous event) lost just a single mark from Stuart Mowbray on 4 whilst over the easier cluman course it was Tony Johnson and Craig Asbridge who battled it out with only a single mark separating them, 25 to 26.

Craig had his Tenaci Wong Chinese made trials bike in action, a watercooled, electric start machinbe and there’s no doubt that whilst they may well be rare, they are perfectly capable of achieving a good result, just as Craig managed on Sunday.

Several riders who had entered in advance declined to take part, presumably because of the cold weather, but not the 15 year old Lewis Gaskell who rode the Fantic this weekend for the class win.
