The Make-a-Wish charity that Nick Shield has been riding and organising events for following the passing of his wife Diane in January 2021 will benefit to the marvellous total of  £11553.00 with £1163.80 coming from the charity trial alone which was held under the auspices of the Barrow Club on Bank Holiday Monday.

It was Diane’s wish that this charity should benefit from her passing and after Covid, when events became available to all, Nick, together with Michael Irving and Andrew Bingley decided to ride both the Pre65 Scottish Two Day Trial and also the Scottish Six Days Trial this year, with Michael and Nick riding and Andrew with daughter Holly providing the back up.

Their efforts in Scotland have already been reported and following their activities they thought it would be great to have a trial specifically for this charity, hence the event that was a held a few days ago.

Nick said: ” A big thanks go to Angus Jenkinson for doing the entries and James Postlethwaite for the results. Also thanks to the landowners for the use of a spectacular piece of land, also a big thank you to Andrew, Angela, Holly and Paige Bingley who were the main driving force behind the event. Finally a thank you to everyone who turned out and supported the event. We were overwhelmed, and I know Diane would have been amazed, and knowing her a little embarrassed especially by the kind words from people during the trial. Following the feedback we got, this could become an annual event, so hopefully see you next year. Many thanks, Nick”
