One dab Sadler reigns supreme
When Richard Sadler ventures into the Northern Centre, there’s a pretty fair chance that he will walk off home to Yorkshire having been successful, and that was the case once again when he won the Westmorland Club’s road based Lonsdale trial starting from the club’s own land at Firbank above Sedbergh.
Very much the hot property at centre championship level, and the Lonsdale was a Northern Centre Championship round, Sadler takes some beating and it was only the Cumbrian Centre Champion Tom Swindlehurst who could come close, though his score of six was still five more than Sadler’s single dab of the day which was a single lap of 33 sections, with seven of them having been ridden twice along the 10 mile route.
Phil Alderson Tony Holmes – Best Over 60
One hundred and fourteen riders took to the course on a brisk, chill day that later developed into fine rain and mist and over the Green course it was another Yorky, Phil Alderson, who has taken to riding frequently in the Northern Centre who collected the best performance in the 50/50 class – but not Centre Championship points as Centre rules only allow residents of the Centre to be eligible for points. But most riders come for the ride with potential Center Championship wins far out of their minds.
Ben Butterworth
Ben Butterworth brought his 500 Ariel to ride against an entire entry of modern bikes, and though his 500 Ariel is very special it is still not a class winner against Betas, Vertigos, Shercos and the like – unless Ben is aboard, and then watch out. The Ramsbottom ace totally eclipsed the rest of the Clubman entry by a country mile, his score being just 8 marks with Simon Brice next best to win the Over 40 class on 17. Which proves, as everybodt truly knows, it’s not the bike, it’s the rider. Simple as!!
Compiling the results has been a significant task this week, hence the late appearance but as always Eric KItchen is on the boil with some ace pictures, particularly the lead pic of Sadler taking his only mark of the trial.
