Quinny goes clean
Finishing a trial with a clean sheet – zero marks lost -is always an achievement no matter how easy the trial was as not only does the result demand ability, it also demands an element of luck as simply, a rock unexpectedly moved by another rider can cause any rider to lose a dab when all seems to be going well.
But all went well for Mark Quinn (lead picture) when he won the Cumberland County’s JD Pattinson trial at Brownrigg Fell, but it was a close thing as David Braithwaite and Anthony Seales both finished on a single mark lost in this trial which attracted just over 40 riders.. Connor Anderson lost two and Brett Willis four to complete the top placings whilst on the poorly supported hard course, just seven riders took part with Tom Middleton proving the best on three from Gary Pears on six with third placed Lewis Johnson on 13.
This trial incorporated the Centre’s Rutherford Cup which is held by a different club each year and is usually incorporated into each particular club’s chosen event so it will be Middleton whose name will be engraved on the shield for 2024.
