Rockshock duo successes
Two glorious days of Rockshock trials were enjoyed over the Saturday and Sunday of May 20 and 21 when the Sedbergh and Westmorland Clubs held the third and fourth rounds of this popular series.
Aimed at Air-cooled monoshock machines, Twinshocks and British Bikes originally built prior to 1975, both trials attracted very healthy entries in all three classes, each run over an easier course and a harder course.
Numerous riders rode both days in weather that was perfect, if a bit too hot on Saturday, but only one rider managed to win his class on both days and that was Miles Jones in the twinshock Expert category though both times it was Will Tolson who pressed him on both days.
Derrick Edmondson
In the Twinshock Clubman local rider Mark Barrow and Midlander Derrick Edmondson shared the spoils, each with a first and a second place, Derrick winning on Saturday by virtue of having one more clean and Mark on Sunday who finished the trial with a three marks advantage over the former British Champion enduro and ISDE star.
Chris Myers (lead picture) had a very clear win in the Pre 75 Clubman on Saturday but on Sunday had to give second best to a very on-form Angus Jenkinson, but riders being respectively officials of their home Barrow DMC trials club.
Neither trial was particularly difficult for this series aims to have the class winners in single figures and the two locations, Ghyll Farm, Bowston and Tow Tops above High Newton proved ideal in the conditions, though had they been wet it would have been altogether different.
The success of these two trials is a credit to both clubs and also to their enthusiasm to work together and get enough observers over the two days to make the events as efficient as possible.
