The season is upon us

The season is upon us

All of a sudden we seem to have hit the beginning of the autumn/winter trials season with some major events coming up over the next few weeks.

First up this coming weekend is the Sedbergh Club’s Rockshock Championship round at Ghyll Farm and also the Newcastle Club’s Travers Trial, the penultimate round of the S3 Championship series, entries for both of which have now closed.

However, entries are still very much open for the Westmorland Club’s Grant Trial on September 25 which will be held at Tommy Road, Wharton Fell near Kirkby Stephen. On-line entries through the ACU system are still very much open and cost £20 for an on-line entry and £25 for riders who prefer to enter on the day. This is an excellent venue and will be 3 laps of 13 or 14 sections. The club needs observers for this trial as it’s a Northern Centre Championship round so if you can assist, then please contact Mike Rapley on 07788 161929.

A week later on October 2, the Barrow Club have the revenge Trial at Torver, another Centre Championship trial and again entries are available on-line and at the start where the is a surcharge similar to the Westmorland system mentioned above. Two really cracking trials which deserve decent entries.

A week later there is the Lakes Two Day Trial at Broughton for which entries have closed at just over the maximum at the last count and once again finding observers for these events is increasingly difficult, so if you can assist, then Gary Gowan would like to hear from you via Whats App on 07740 964982.

In fact finding observers for events is the biggest single problem clubs face and there needs to be a discussion as to how the problem is to be overcome because actually fulfilling the requirements of any particular trial is seemingly impossible.

And then there is the Scott Trial on Saturday, October 15 and if you’ve never been, then make 2022 the year you make a visit. It’s a great event to watch.
