Join in for Diane’s charity trial
It’s August Bank Holiday Monday this weekend and for the third time the Barrow Club have agreed to host the Diane Shield Charity trial in aid of the Make-A-Wish foundation, the charity which was Diane’s preferred good cause. The trial is at Tow Tops, above High Newton and flagged from the A590 at the top of Lindale hill. This is a good location with excellent sections which have been set out by Nick Shield and colleagues. The view over Morecambe Bay is pretty good as well.
ALL proceeds after the normal organisational costs will go to the charity, and thanks to the generosity of riders, significant proceeds have been raised over the past two years and it is to be hoped that this year’s event will be equally successful. So riders, spectators and officials should all be digging a little deeper into their pockets to add a bit more to the final totals. Barrow rounded up their contribution after paying the normal and unavoidable organisation costs and will be doing so again. There will also be a raffle on the day, which last year had some excellent prizes.
It will be a Clubman and easy clubman, two route course and entries will be available on the day. The entry fee will be £20 and with a decent entry, Make-a-Wish should benefit considerably from this event. Last year attracted 54 entries with very sensible scores and even though this year the ground is considerably wetter following the rain of the past few days, it will remain a sensible trial in Nick’s capable hands.
Eric Kitchen will be there snapping away again as he does at most trials and the picture of Andrew Payne is of last year’s runner-up.
