Possy picks the Presidents
A small entry of just 20 riders gathered for the Bootle Club’s Presidents Trial at Fell Green on Sunday, Sept 11, which was a disappointing number for a Northern Centre Championship round.
However, it proved to a good trial over the familiar moorland course from where the Isle of Man is visible on a clear day, and though the climate was mild and sunny at times, visibility across the sea was poor.

James Postlethwaite was the outright winner over the hard course with Nigel Birkett just pipping Craig Seward to be victorious over the green, 50/50 route.
Jonny Clark on 13 finished one ahead of Simon Brice to win the easier clubman category where the notorious Avalanche section, used so many times over the past 45 years – perhaps even longer – took the bulk of the marks lost over the 4 laps of 10 sections.
