Thirlspot proves spot on

The terrain was a bit slippery for Bassenthwaite’s second evening trial of the summer at Thirlspot where the Hodgson family farms, but it made little difference to Tom Hodgson as he only lost one mark, but that single mark was the same score that Dan Gaskell lost and he was declared the main clubman course winner as he rode the four lap trial clean the furthest. Chris Dixon was third on 2 points and his nephew Jack was next on 7.

Colin Benson was the best performer on the easy course on 8 just pipping Gordie Oliver by a single mark with Ian Horner double the second rider’s score of 9 by losing 18.

Despite the risk of cancellation due to slow entries on-line, the final total number of riders was 41 including some first timers who never quite managed the full four laps, but have vowed to return to enjoy the next evening trial which takes place on August 3 with details of where to follow when confirmed.
