Upcoming now, a month of sport

Now that we’ve entered the real start of the winter months with November, here’s a brief plan of the upcoming events .
The new 2023/2024 Northern Centre Trials Championship kicks off with the Bassenthwaite Club’s D.K.Laing Trial at Threlkeld Quarry near Keswick on Sunday, November 5 which is flagged off the Penrith to Keswick main road. Most potential riders will know this venue well, but for those who don’t this is a testing trial over the fells of four laps of ten sections, but still a very rideable event and one well worth enjoying. Usual start time of 10.30 and entries are taken at the start.
The following weekend, November 11/12 is Remembrance weekend and by tradition, there are no events on the Sunday though we understand some neighbouring centres are planning to run on the Saturday . However, on Sunday, November 12 it is the Northern Centre’s Annual General Meeting and presentation of awards which will be from 3pm at the Villa Hotel at Levens, where refreshments will be provided to follow the meeting. This is as much a social afternoon as a formal meeting and everybody is welcome, so why not come along and have your say in the open forum should you wish to air a view or make a suggestion.
Cumberland County MCC  have their Memorial Trial  which will be a  round of the Northern Centre Championship on Sunday 19th November 2023, at Raughton Ghyll, Fellside, Caldbeck Cumbria, CA7 8HA, the location of which is “What three words” : tonic.ticked.tomato. The situation with Cumberland County is that they only accept entries online via  the ACU Sport80 website or the link below
Entries are open now and will close at 2pm on Saturday 18th Nov – NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN AFTER THIS TIME
Start is at 10.30 am for Adult Solo plus Youth A & B classes over Hard, Green(50/50) and Clubman Courses and three or four laps of roughly 5 miles around a river valley all off road. Clubman is the easiest course to enter and may be a challenging ride round for beginners due to the terrain.
Then on Friday, November 24 the Westmorland Club have a social evening at Netherfield Cricket Club, Kendal, with everyone invited who has had a connection, no matter how remote(!) with the club this year. Your first couple of drinks are on the club, as is the pie supper. Folks will be arriving from about 7.30pm, so why not join them for a good night of motorbike fun.
And to round off the month of trialing in Cumbria, the Bootle Club have a Gowan Construction supported multi class trial at Fell Green on Sunday, November 26 with a 10.30am start with entries on the day.
