It’s Possy’s Revenge win

A clash of dates and a mid-season change of dates were the probable reasons for the smaller than expected entry of riders in the Barrow Club’s Revenge trial on September 17, but that didn’t alter the fact that it remained the penultimate round of the Northern Centre Championship and was won by James Postlethwaite with the loss of just five marks in a trial easier than expected with the second and third positions going to Richard Gaskell and Steve Dixon in that order, both on six marks but the runner up position being decided on the furthest clean tie-decider.

Sam Metcalfe on six, was half the score of Nigel Birkett over the green, 50/50 course with PeterMawson third whilst Andrew Mawson won the Clubman category from Anthony Brockbank who was a further five marks adrift of the winner. Local TRS dealer Jonny Wren was a fine third but the overall entry of 31 riders was poor for this normally well supported event which is likely to return to its early October date in future years.
