Patronage 100 years on

On Friday, January 20, 1923, the Auto Cycle Union at their Annual General Meeting, then based in Pall Mall, congratulated by telegram, the Duke of York, patron of the ACU, upon his engagement to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later to become King George VI and the Queen Mother, to which the future King replied that he very much appreciates the kind message of congratulations from the assembly of motor-cyclists gathered at the Royal Automobile Club for their AGM.

Following the passing of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the current Patron Emeritus of the ACU is The Right Honourable The Lord Jopling, DL.
